Job Title:Part-time Operations Assistant Position

Location: Haiku, Maui

Pay:Part-time @ $21/hr

Haiku, HI

      The assistant will work under the direction of the Operations and Program Managers, to help run programs and assist with the needs of the organization. Successful candidates will have a positive attitude & a desire to grow Maui into a more sustainable community and a willingness to grow and learn about our organization and goals.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

• Harvesting, washing ,sorting, weighing, and distributing produce
• Farming and gardening, installations, and maintenance for properties 
• Help record and report data from site visits
• Assisting with some minor administrative tasks in down time.
• Coordinating market connections or drop-off to community organizations 
• Distributing produce to local businesses and nonprofits. 
• Guide volunteers when needed 
• Cleaning and keeping tools and workspace in good working condition 
• Interacting with customers and answering customer questions or concerns 
• And other jobs and duties assigned when needed. 

Job, Education and Skill Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (some college preferred)
• 3 years farming or landscaping experience in Maui County preferred but not required
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure
• Demonstrates good working relationships with customers and work cooperatively with a team
• A clean driving record 
• Must have valid driver’s license and insurance 
• Must have reliable transportation 
• Must be legally able to work and provide necessary documents upon hire

Physical Requirements: 

• Applicant must be in good health in order to perform farming and harvesting duties 
• The ability to stand for long periods of time, twist, turn, stretch and bend with ease
• The ability to lift 25-70 lbs. regularly & move safely over uneven terrain while carrying 25-75 lbs.
• The ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds
• The ability to work in extreme weather, &  see and respond to dangerous situations 
• The ability to use farm and garden tools (i.e. extendable trimmers & pickers, shovels, pick axes, rakes, etc.)
• The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day
