Program Manager Position
Haiku, Maui
Common Ground Collectives (CGC) is a dynamic non-profit organization committed to our mission of increasing food security, economic opportunities and education in Maui and then abroad. We are seeking a dedicated, dynamic and experienced Program Manager to lead our Foster Farm Program. This is an upper level management position in charge of establishing the installation and maintenance portion of the program, administering day-to-day routines, monitoring performance and making sure everything is done in compliance with organization's needs and Executive Director’s directives.
As a Program Manager, candidates will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of the Foster Farm Program. candidates will work closely with clients, partners, contractors, and internal teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. This role requires strong leadership skills, project management expertise, and a passion for sustainable agriculture.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Operational Oversight:
- Manage all aspects of operations, ensuring efficient and safe practices.
- Collaborate with clients and design teams to understand project requirements and objectives.
- Coordinate with the Foster Farming Operations Manager in order to align program schedules and site visits.
- Oversee the procurement and maintenance of necessary equipment and supplies.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets in alignment with client expectations and company goals.
- Ensure operational goals and benchmarks are met
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure resources are allocated efficiently.
- Work alongside crew and volunteers, providing guidance, training, and support when needed.
- Assign roles and responsibilities to team members to optimize productivity.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages collaboration and growth.
Program Coordination:
- Develop and implement a robust installation and maintenance strategy for the program.
- Work with the Executive Director to develop and maintain up-to-date pricing structures for the program.
- Collaborate with local insitutions, organizations, businesses, clients and experts to facilitate effective planning.
- Ensure timely and professional services to various client groups.
- Collaborate with volunteers and stakeholders to ensure the success and sustainability of the program.
- Implement educational and outreach initiatives related to programs to engage the local community.
- Establish and maintain quality standards for the programs in order to meet health and safety requirements.
- Oversee the implementation of edible landscape projects, including plantings, hardscaping, irrigation systems, and other elements.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, address any issues, and ensure adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
- Implement best practices for sustainable landscaping, regenerative agriculture, and ecological stewardship.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate data and records of all program activities.
- Generate quarterly and annual data points for organizational reporting requirements.
- Monitor project budgets and expenditures, identifying areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Prepare accurate financial reports and forecasts, tracking project costs and profitability.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulations.
Community Engagement:
- Build and nurture relationships with farmers, donors, volunteers, and recipients to strengthen community ties.
- Represent CGC at relevant community events and forums, promoting our mission and garnering support.
Job, Education and Skill Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Environmental Science, related field or a minimum of 5 years farming or landscaping experience in Maui County
- Strong knowledge of plant materials, irrigation, agricultural machinery, landscape design principles, and horticultural practices.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency proficiency with personal computers, google suites, microsoft office suite
- Passion for sustainability, environmental stewardship, and regenerative agriculture
- Must possess excellent communication and customer service skills
- Must have valid driver’s license and insurance
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be legally able to work in the US and provide necessary documents upon hire
Physical Requirements:
- Applicant must be in good health in order to perform above job duties
- The ability to stand for long periods of time, twist, turn, stretch and bend with ease
- The ability to lift 25-75 lbs. regularly & move safely over uneven terrain while carrying 25-75 lbs.
- The ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds
- The ability to work in extreme weather, & see and respond to dangerous situations
- The ability to use agricultural machinery, power tools and hand tools
- The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day
Compensation & Benefits:
- $35/hr, 40 hrs/wk
