Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Project Manager and Estimator to join our team. In this dual role, you will be responsible for overseeing construction projects from the initial planning phase through to completion while preparing accurate cost estimates for bidding and budgetary control. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction project management, excavation estimating, and leading multi-phase projects in the construction industry.

 

Must currently reside on Maui and have the ability to commute between office and job sites. Relocation assistance is not available.


Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and relevant documents to understand project scope and requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services, ensuring all project costs are captured accurately.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, timelines, and budgets in collaboration with the team, ensuring project milestones are met.
  • Monitor project progress, resource allocation, and costs throughout the construction process, identifying and addressing any deviations to keep the project on track.
  • Implement effective cost control measures and track budget performance, ensuring profitability and alignment with financial goals.
  • Coordinate with the controller, foreman, and other key stakeholders to ensure that bidding processes and cost management strategies align with company objectives.
  • Conduct site visits to gather necessary information for accurate estimating and to assess on-site progress during construction phases.
  • Manage and direct subcontractors, suppliers, and other project partners, ensuring quality standards and deadlines are maintained.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality control standards, and environmental considerations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and submit project reports, updates, and progress assessments for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead project meetings and maintain communication with clients, team members, and subcontractors to ensure project clarity and resolve issues.
  • Identify project risks and proactively develop mitigation strategies to avoid delays or cost overruns.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site assessments, and project evaluations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in construction project management, with a focus on excavation, grading, and large-scale civil construction projects.
  • Proven experience in estimating and bidding processes for construction projects, particularly in the excavation and infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project) and estimating tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and construction documents.
  • Must currently reside on Maui and have the ability to commute between office and job sites.
