The Spanish Interpreter will support Spanish-speaking Maui wildfire survivors as they access critical services for their recovery. Based on Maui, the Spanish Interpreter will work with Case Managers at Family Promise of Hawaiʻi (FPH), partner organizations, and other service providers to provide interpretation and translation services and empower families on their journey to recovery. The Spanish Interpreter will also help identify unmet needs within the Spanish-speaking community and assist with outreach and administrative requirements. This position reports directly to the Maui Family Services Manager.
Family Promise of Hawaiʻi (FPH) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is to transform the lives of families with children in Hawaiʻi facing homelessness by providing housing, resources, and support. Founded in 2005, FPH serves hundreds of families on Oʻahu and Maui through interim housing, rental assistance, case management, and wraparound services.

This full-time position on Maui will begin on May 10, 2025 and end on April 4, 2026.
Key Responsibilities
Interpretation, Translation and Support (67%)
Provide accurate and culturally sensitive Spanish-to-English and English-to-Spanish interpretation for wildfire survivors during meetings, phone calls, and other interactions with Case Managers, partner organizations, and service providers.
Translate written materials, such as forms, instructions, and informational documents, as needed for clients.
Act as a liaison between Spanish-speaking families and FPH staff to ensure clear communication and understanding.
Build trust and foster relationships with Spanish-speaking families to help them feel supported and empowered.
Outreach and Administrative Support (33%)
Help identify unmet needs within the Spanish-speaking community and provide insights to improve service delivery.
Support efforts to strengthen FPH’s presence within Maui’s Spanish-speaking community.
Assist Case Managers and other team members with data entry, record-keeping, and other administrative tasks related to Spanish-speaking clients.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to trauma-informed care principles when working with families affected by the Maui wildfires.
