Position Title: Special Projects and Operations Coordinator

Grow Some Good cultivates community well-being through sustainable agriculture, food
security initiatives, and environmental stewardship programs in Maui County. We work
with local schools, community partners, and volunteers to provide hands-on agricultural
and environmental education for students and community members.
Position Summary:
The Special Projects and Operations Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting Grow Some
Good’s Development, Program, and Administrative teams. This position will coordinate
special projects, (such as our Kumu Mea Kanu Program), streamline daily operations, and
oversee GSG’s volunteer program, including recruiting, onboarding, and supporting
volunteers. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Coordinator will work collaboratively
across departments to enhance operational effectiveness and programmatic impact. With
training, the Coordinator will also assist in managing grants, helping to align allocations
strategically to maximize impact, and will have opportunities for professional growth in
these areas.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Volunteer Program Coordination and Engagement
○ Oversee the recruitment, orientation, training, and supervision of volunteers,
ensuring a positive experience that reflects GSG’s mission and core values.
○ Refine volunteer roles, work plans, policies, and procedures, and maintain
records of volunteer hours, performance, and engagement.
○ Recognize and reward volunteers’ contributions, fostering a motivated and
engaged volunteer community.
2. Project Coordination and Logistics
○ Coordinate special projects across Development, Program, and
Administrative departments, aligning them with strategic priorities and grant
deliverables.
○ Develop project management plans and oversee management of project
activities, including budgeting, scheduling, supply procurement, and
volunteer recruitment.
○ Manage logistics for outreach events, and community activities, providing
hands-on support to ensure their success.
3. Data Management, Grant Support, and Reporting
○ Track and analyze data related to program performance, volunteer
involvement, project progress, and community engagement.
○ Prepare regular reports on volunteer activity, program impact, project
milestones, and assist in meeting grant reporting requirements.
○ Support grant management by maintaining accurate records and tracking
funding allocations to ensure that projects and program expenses align with
grant guidelines.
○ Assist in preparing budgets and allocation strategies to maximize the impact
of grant funding and identify future funding needs.
4. Administrative and Operational Support
○ Perform administrative tasks, including processing forms, preparing reports,
tracking expenses, and coordinating with Finance, Human Resources, and
Information Systems.
○ Support budget monitoring, forecasting, and documentation of project and
program expenses.
5. Community Engagement and Social Media
○ Create and schedule posts, monitor engagement, and assist with community
outreach to support GSG’s social media and marketing efforts.
○ Work with the Development Director to implement GSG’s social media
strategy, sharing impactful stories and increasing community engagement.
○ Assist in producing monthly newsletters, increasing readership, and tracking
engagement metrics to measure social media and outreach impact.
6. Mission Alignment and Representation
○ Act as an exemplary representative of GSG, maintaining an optimistic attitude
and engaging positively with the community.
○ Effectively communicate GSG’s mission, goals, and programs to volunteers,
partners, and the public.
○ Collaborate with team members to foster strong relationships with
community stakeholders, enhancing GSG’s visibility and impact.
7. Process Improvement and Training
○ Implement processes to enhance operational efficiency and streamline
administrative functions.
○ Provide targeted training and guidance to volunteers and staff on operational
processes, volunteer management practices, and project protocols.
○ Maintain systems for tracking and managing volunteer sign-ups, project
requirements, and community inquiries.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Project Management, or a related field,
or equivalent experience.
● 2+ years of experience in nonprofit project coordination, operations, or volunteer
management.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, data management tools, and social media
platforms.
● Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with attention to
detail and multitasking ability.
● Experience in volunteer recruitment, training, and management is preferred.
● Familiarity with gardening or environmental sustainability is a plus.
